(Added Dec 12/09) Please avoid using A.S. Alarm Services. I am another victim of this Alarm company. Be very careful when you give out your credit card to this company. They will continue to charge even without your authorization since it already in their profile. The cancellation process is through their unreliable website or sometimes impossible for one to cancel the service. In the mean time they continue claim that they provide the monitor service although I disconnect my phone more than six months until I received a bill from them. FYI, my alarm system is monitor through the land line telephone, and I know for sure that they didn't monitor anything at all. Now, they want to charge for something(service) which they didn't provide. I tested by turn on the alarm several times.... No one call or let me know the alarm was activated. Calling their customer service, you will likely talk to a lady called herself *****, and very rude and very uneducated conversation. You will likely get hang up in the middle for your talking.... BEWARE... It's not worth it to go through all of this headache... You might think you will save... Reality, in the long term you will not.... Beware of this Company....

Alarm Guard

(Added Dec 20/08) On July 15, 1995, I purchased a security system from Alarmguard with provision that they would provide monitoring service for twelve calendar months. On October 17, 2008, in a telephone conversation, my husband requested that Alarmguard terminate the monitoring service because of their abusive language.
On October 19, 2008, I followed up with a letter requesting that Alarmguard terminate the monitoring service effective October 31, 2008.

Subsequently, I received a letter from Alarmguard acknowledging payment and stating that they would honor my request at the end of the term which is August, 2009. Meanwhile, they would continue to bill me for unwanted service. I was led/misled to believe that the agreement was for twelve months and it could be cancelled with a written 30 day notice, especially since I have had the contract for over THIRTEEN YEARS. Now, Alarmguard is referring to the contract that they drafted, in a one-sided manner, to require almost a year's notice to terminate. Moreover, they threaten to refer the account to collections for unwanted service even AFTER I gave them notice.
Would I recommend this misleading and unethical company to any unsuspecting consumer? NEVER!

I never actually got around to signing up with Gaylord Security (large ADT provider), because the rep I spoke to - actually, her manager (******) that dove in on the conversation, was so aggressive and unprofessional with his sales pitch that I had to hang up on him. He spoke about my family's safety being compromised if I had the nerve to hang up and go with an inferior security firm. I told him all I wanted to do was more research, and he responded by saying why would I jeopardize my family's safety by forgoing the best security system and losing out on $1000 of free equipment? First of all, I'm not forgoing anything - their website has the same offer he was giving me with his "hang up" deadline, and secondly, I feel like my family will be safer if I do thorough research and get a system we're comfortable with.

Right now I'm seriously considering Alarm.com because of it's high ratio of positive reviews, cellular capabilities (no cut phone chords), and flexibility and monitoring capabilities (you can monitor all your sensors in realtime online).

I HAD A HORRIBLE RUN IN WITH A DISTRIBUTOR WHO INSTALLED MY ALARM SYSTEM AND OFFERS MONITORING FOR MONOTRONICS. AFTER 3= YEARS THE DISTRIBUTOR AND OWNER OF SECURITY FIRST OF WASHINGTON CAME INTO MY BUSINESS WHERE THE ALARM IS INSTALLED TO BE A CUSTOMER AT MY BUSINESS, WHILE THERE HE PROCEEDED TO VERBALLY SEXUALLY ASSULT A FEMALE MINOR EMPLOYEE AND VERBALLY ASSULT A MALE EMPLOYEE, HE WAS KICKED OUT OF THE BUSINESS AND STOLD TO STAY OFF PROPERTY. THE ALARM COMPANY OWNER ALSO WAS HANDING OUT LITERATURE STATING TO "LEGALIZE MARIJUANA" AND TO "VOTE HIM FOR US PRESIDENT".

I TRIED TO RESOLVE WITH THE ALARM GUY NEXT DAY AND HE WOULD NOT RETURN MY CALLS. THE ALARM GUY HAS FULL ACCESS TO ALL MY ALARM CODES AND PASSWORDS AND MY BUSINESS OPEN TO PROBLEMS WITH ANY REVENGE ON HIS PART FOR GETTING KICKED OUT, SO I WENT RIGHT TO MONOTRONICS TALKED TO SOME WEST COAST ACCOUNT MANAGER AND I FAXED OVER ALL INFO (THE PROPAGANDA SHEETS ABOUT LEGALIZING MARIJUANA WITH THE ALARM COMPANY PHONE # ON IT!) I WANTED TO GET THE CRAZY ALARM GUY OFF MY ACCOUNT AND GO DIRECT WITH MONOTRONICS, THE MONOTRONICS MANAGER TOLD ME TO CANCEL WITH THE ALARM GUY IN WRITING WHICH I DID.

IN THE NEXT 3 WEEKS I TRIED TO CALL MONOTRONICS 8 TIMES AND NEVER GOT 1 RETURN PHONE CALL THE JUST BLEW IT OFF AND REFUSED TO CALL ME. SO I SWITCHED TO ADT ALARMS IMMEDIATELY. NOW MONOTRONICS AND THE SMALL SECURITY COMPANY HAVE SENT ME TO COLLECTIONS FOR OVER $1,000.00 FOR BREAKING A CONTRACT ON FUTURE SERVICE. MIND YOU I HAVE ALSO PAID IN FULL FOR ALL EQUIPTMENT IN THE BUILDING NOT LEASED PAID IN FULL AT INSTALL FOR EVERYTHING OVER 3 YEARS AGO.

I HAVE FILED WITH THE BBB, WASHINGTON STATE ATTORNEY GENERAL, COMPLAINTS.COM, LAWYER BOARDS AND HAVE 2 LAWYERS HELPING ON THIS AND I AM NOT GOING TO STOP UNTIL MONOTRONICS DOES WHATS RIGHT AND RELEASES CONTRACT, AND PROBLABLY SHOULD FIND A BETTER DISTRIBUTOR! YOUR DISTIBUTOR ADMITTED TO HAVING A MANAC EPISODE THATS JUST GREAT! AND HE WANTS DRUGS LEGALIZED AND I FAXED YOU A COPY OF THAT!

BY THE WAY EVERTHING IS CAUGHT ON VIDEO WITH YOUR DISTRIBUTOR AND YOU ALREADY HAVE PAPER PROOF AND I HAVE A GOOD 10 EYE WITNESSES! WHATS WRONG MONOTRONICS! THIS GUY IS GIVING YOU A BAD NAME
