Recent Review For Alarm Center:
I have never had to deal with a business where it is ok to harass, interrogate, and verbally abuse the customer.

I signed a 36 month contract with The Alarm Center on 1/15/07 and moved on 8/17/07. Since I was moving I had canceled services. I called The Alarm Center on 8/13 and spoke with Angela/Angie. She said there was no penalty to cancel and all I needed to do was submit a Notice of Termination and on the notice note that I would refer them as the Monitoring Company of choice. I did that via fax on 8/13 at 2:07 PM. At this point from my conversation with The Alarm Center the contract was now canceled.  I then decided to have new service installed into my new home and that was set up to be installed on 8/20. When getting that service arranged I was harassed into purchasing service/items I did not want. I received a follow-up call on 8/17 trying to sell me items again and to confirm installation. (I had already put a deposit of $150 down for the installation.)

On 8/20 I called to alert The Alarm Center the home was not pre-wired as I was told and that I wanted to cancel the installation. I spoke with an employee named Ross on 8/20 to cancel the service and refund the deposit. He was insistent that I have the service installed and I kept telling him 'No' he continued to say that I was now in breach of my contract and that I need to speak with Tom Taylor.  On 8/21 I spoke with Tom Taylor he said he would refund the deposit since no new service was installed and I did not sign a new contract. He then added that I needed to pay the remainder of the 36 month contract, which I thought was canceled.

I was misled and they resend what they told me earlier on the telephone. At this point I was not satisfied with the company as a whole. I told Tom they advertise 'Satisfaction Guaranteed or Your Money Back' and was not satisfied. He continued to bully me into paying the remainder the 36 month contract for services I will not be receiving any longer. Everything was ok until I decided not to have service installed into my new home. Once I canceled the service installation they decided to go back on their verbal commitment.

1. I paid a installation deposit and The Alarm Center was ready to install the new service and have me sign a new 36 month contract.
2. Once I canceled the installation they decided to go back on a verbal commitment.
3. They falsely advertise...'satisfaction guaranteed'

I contacted the Baton Rouge Better Business Bureau and The Alarm Center said they had refunded the deposit of $150 (which they have) further they still noted they will hold me to the 36 month contract (that was already canceled on 8/17 per my submitting the Notice of Termination). In the notice they unlawfully made comments on my personal/confidential business to others. They were in an obvious attempt to discredit me, but they know nothing about the issues and proceeded to make comments on here-say.

The Alarm Center also stated they installed the system at a discounted their upfront price at my old location. Yet, they were going to do the same thing at my new location. Since I canceled the new installation they are decided to go back on their cancellation on the old contract. This just is a scheme to make more money from consumers.  I would not recommend this company to anyone.

Terrible service, inflated services, 5 year term with automatic 5 year renewal clause, contract which takes away any consumer rights you may have.  Avoid this company at all costs. There are better choices in New Orleans.

AOne (Broadview Authorized Dealer)
Recent Review For AOne:
(Added Apr 30/10)
April 10, a rep from Broadview's local authorized dealer, AOne (Shreveport, LA) made a presentation in my home.  He provided a quote of $400.  He obtained my information and scheduled an installation. He told me I could cancel the install and the tech would complete an application at time of install. 3 days later, after looking for more reasonable security firms, I contacted the AOne rep and cancelled the appointment. He wanted to know who I chose for a company and when informed Alpha, he wanted to know who was coming out and what they offered.  I refused and politely got off of the phone.

Alpha Security had a better deal for less than 1/2 the cost. April 22, after submitting an application and waiting for the Alpha tech to do an install, he called and said my credit had been run by Aone and they couldn't touch the install for 30 days.  I contacted the corporate office, spoke two 3 reps in Sales Supervision, including a Supervisor, Matt. That began at 12:45pm. I was told it would be taken care of and the credit check should not have occurred and they would clear it up to have the install completed today.  7:20pm, still no call from ANYBODY at Broadview.  However, the rep from Aone called me and told me the corporate office called him.  He asked what he could do to satisfy me.  I told him, "absolutely nothing." b/c I cancelled the appointment with him and he still ran my credit to prevent the other office from servicing me.

Initially, I was very upset but after reading the other reviews, I am thankful I didn't go with Broadview.  Things happen for a reason and I believe this chaos occurred b/c I wasn't supposed to deal with Broadview.
In conclusion, I've filed a complaint with the BBB for unethical practices on AOne's behalf and filing with Broadview Corporation for the sub-par service and unethical practices of its dealer.  I called ADT and as a returining customer, (I relocated from MO to LA) received the same deal with all installation and connection fees waived and 25% off my monthly bills.  The rep told me about the proprietorship with Broadview and how customers moving to ADT recounted events about Broadview retrieving their installed products when service was terminated b/c they own it. Broadview may work for some, but here in Shreveport, LA it definitely did not for me.
